Parents and Guardians,
The Nova Scotia lunch program will be starting on October 28 at our school. All students in our school, including pre-primary students, can participate in the lunch program.
We’ve included some key info below, but please visit nslunch.ca for more details. The FAQ section includes information on how to create an account (including a ‘how to’ video) and order online, payment and menu information and more.
●
Online ordering and the ordering window:
○
You will need to create an account to order meals.
○
All meals must be ordered online during the set ordering window. You will order meals for a 2 week period each time the ordering window is open (up to 10 meals). Students will not be able to order lunch from the cafeteria on a daily basis. Ordering opens on Friday mornings and closes on Wednesday at noon for meals that will start being served the following Monday.
■
For example: to order lunches from Oct 28 to Nov 8, you must order between Friday, Oct 18 and noon on Wednesday October 23. You will not be able to order meals for Oct 28 to Nov 8 after Oct 23 at noon.
○
If you do not have access to a device or the internet to place meal orders please reach out to us to discuss further.
●
Pay what you can model:
○
Families can choose to pay nothing for the meal. If you choose, you can pay for the meal (either in full, or any amount that you choose).
○
There is no requirement to pay for the meal, and no one will know whether you paid or how much you paid. All information related to payment is completely confidential. The only information the school will have is which meals your child ordered. Families should not feel pressure to pay.
●
Menu:
○
Everyday there will be two meal options. At least one of these options will be vegetarian.
○
When ordering, you will be able to see the ingredients for each meal to help you make a decision on whether to order. The lunch program can’t guarantee that meals are 100 percent allergen free due to the risk of cross-contamination.
